The
half arched tunnel contructed by steel frame
and layers of bubble plastic sheets and
white mesh is set by water. The color changing
LED fixtures are installed at the top of
the tunnel and light the curvature of bubble
and mesh layers. The bubble plastic layer
at interior shines by the LED light directly
as showing its texture with various programmed
LED color. A video projector is set in the
other side of water and tunnel and projects
an animated moving blue bubbles to the bubble
plastic layers. The white mesh layer at
exterior holds the viviant LED color as
well as the video projection images with
the paticipants' shadows. On the water by
the tunnel, 12 floating bubble cool white
LEDs are floating freely in connection to
the bubble tunnel.
As
the participants walk through the tunnel
of bubble plastics, the light of video projection
casts their shadows to the layers of bubble
and white mesh and superimpose the shadow
with the image of projection and various
wall colors of bubble and mesh layers. The
installation view is set for the viewers
from water taxi as well as intergration
of publc park goers. From the view in water
taxi, as people walk into the tunnels, they
transform into multiple shadows and into
the mixture of colors and blue bubble image
projected from video projector. With floating
brinking water lights, 'Bubble Walk,' bring

projection to ceiling tensioned fabric with
Sound through Headphone, Tensioned Fabrics,
and Colored Candelabra lamps |
Weightlessness
and vertigo are explored amidst a film and
ethereal musical score. Tactile sensations
are stimulated by use of internally
illuminated translucent tension fabric and
a soft, flexible viewing plateau. Internally
illuminated translucent tension fabricappears
to float as
the viewer approaches the installation space,
leading them into the viewing chamber. Additional
tension fabric is anchored to the walls
creating vertical breaks and an artificial
ceiling that serves as a viewing screen for
the playback of the audio/video loop. The
viewer lays on
her/his back, feet above the ground, and listens
through headphones, to a synchronized audio
(instructmental sound of water) and video
loop
(looking down view of elevating up and down
from ground to top of high rise building,
and vice and versa). Sensory alteration from
laying
down and watching up the video that simulates
climbing, floating and falling through time
and spaces and illumination allow the viewer
a
unique opportunity to interact and be transported
by this radical piece. |

computer animation, video projection onto
a motorized wheel with spikes, sheer stretchy
fabrics, neon plexglas control box, headphone,
black lights, strobe lights, sensor activated
flash light, various color lights, wrought
iron chair, glow in dark threads, aluminum
band. |
| In
the room, the sheer white webs across from
walls to wall, and various color lights glow
from the inside of each web, and it creates
an organic architectural interior. Viewers
are invited to sit on an iron chair, wear
headphones, and interact with a blinking control
box while watching the video projection (image
of a dancing girl), which is generated from
computer animation, onto a cylinder on top
a motorized wheel with spikes. As the spiky
wheel spins, the shadows of the spikes are
thrown on the image (between the dancing girl’s
legs). Viewers are introduced to the unexpected
audio and visual interactions from the control
box; by pressing yellow button, a girl’s
screaming sound shocks the viewer through
the headphone, and by pressing pink button,
the flashlight behind the chair goes on three
seconds after the explosion of the strobe
light in front of the viewer. The flashlight
casts shadows of the viewers onto the spinning
wheel with spikes - they take subliminal snapshots
of themselves. Unconsciously the viewers project
and identify themselves on the threatening
wheel. |

mini video camera, video projector, VCR, translucent
projection screen, water and water pump, clear
plastic shower curtain, custom-designed wrought
- iron chair and wall papers, and dark blue
fabrics, sound. |
Walking
down a dark corridor, the viewer hears several
disembodied voices reading a poem about
obsessive love. The viewer sits on a wrought-iron
chair shaped like a leaf and looks through
a clear plastic curtain, behind which falls
a sheet of water, to a translucent projection
screen. While feeling the cold dampness
from the rain on the plastic, the viewer
watches an image of the back of someone's
head, which the viewer eventually discovers
is his/her own head.
The
screen is a mirror - not from everyday life
- but a mirror never seen before, a mirror
of the unconscious. The closed-circuit camera,
positioned behind the wrought-iron chair,
shows not only the back of the head but
also the plastic sheet, the dripping water
and the projection screen; thus, the viewer
sees a blurred, infinite image of his/her
back. Watching the infinite mirror of the
unconscious, an experience made doubly surreal
by the artificial rain, s/he falls into
Narcissus's pond. |

Sitting
on a sofa positioned in front of a window
hung with curtains and looking inside, the
viewer discovers a video image of a private
bedroom and so enacts the role of a Peeping
room. Water dripping down the window makes
it appear as if it is raining inside the
bedroom. As if watching television in his/her
living room, the viewer continues to watch
as speakers amplify a man's and a woman's
voice counting down.

Viewers
explore a dark, cylindrical room hung with
floor-to-ceiling curtains. The smell of
bleach emanates from a water-filled pool
on the floor. From the 30-feet-high ceiling,
a video projector throws onto the white
plastic bottom of the pool images of a red
liquid, dripping; meanwhile, the surface
water of the pool ripples with real drips
of water. Viewers have the illusion of a
red liquid dripping into the pool. |

Positioned
in front of a dividing wall hung with white
draperies, a video monitor shows an image
of a red liquid, dripping. an open door
in the all, its frame festooned with lace,
leads the viewer to Closet Land. Inside,
sitting on a stool under a blue light bulb
suspended from the center of the room, the
viewer is surrounded by wallpaper made to
look like architectural blueprints. In one
corner, a succession of slides - an empty
hanger, a bra, a slip, a sleeping gown -
is projected onto a clear plastic curtain
behind which falls a sheet of water, behind
which is white fabric. The steady stream
of images, however is constantly disrupted;
In the opposite corner, the projector, housed
in a 12 - feet - tall cage covered in blue
satin, is covered and uncovered by a slowly
turning contraption resembling a spiked
captain's wheel. in another corner, an image
of lingerie is projected onto a black lace
curtain hanging from the ceiling. In the
opposite corner, the viewer discovers an
empty closet, a single cloth hanger and
a naked bulb. A black liquid slides down
the inside wall of the closet. |
